Yaremche

Yaremche is a popular tourist center, situated on the banks of the Prut River on the wooded foothills of the Carpathians in the south-west of the Ivano-Frankovsk region in the vicinity of mountain ranges Chergora and Gorgan.

Yaremche is one of the most popular resorts of Ukraine. The magnificient landscapes, healthful springs, remarkable sights of architecture, an ancient and interesting history of the region, the original culture and the language of sincere gutsuls, made Yaremche to be known as the tourist center of Prikarpattia. The simple European city with its own customs and traditions attracts thousands of domestic and foreign tourists.The most magic places are a waterfall "Hasp" on the river Prut, Dovbush stone and rocks, unique cliffs on a right bank of Prut. The territory of Yaremcha local government is one of the major recreation districts of the Carpathians Mountains and the whole Ukraine. The city Yaremche with subregions Dora, Yamna is located on the height of 500-535 m. above a sea level. Yaremchanschina occupies the south-western part of Ivano-Frankovsk region and is situated in the central part of the Ukrainian Carpathians
 
Yaremche
was established in 1787 and received the status of a city on December 30, 1977. In interwar period (1918-1939) it belonged to Poland and was the most popular tourist center in eastern part of the Carpathian Mountains. Yaremche was growing year by year in importance and number of tourists. According to some, it had a chance to achieve same importance as other key Polish mountain spas, Zakopane and Krynica. However, in September 1939 it was captured by Soviet troops and became a part of Soviet Union as part of the Ukrainian SSR. During the World War II it was part of the Distrikt Galizien and was liberated by the Soviet forces in 1944. On December 30, 1977 the city of Yaremcha became a municipality within the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Since 1991 it became a part of the independent Ukraine.

Besides Yaremche being known as a tourist center, it is also a popular health spa destination for many Tuberculosis patients who suffer from this deadly and infectious disease. Tuberculosis can affect your central nervous system and other parts of your body, but commonly affects the lungs, and patients find relief at specialized health resorts in Yaremche. Patients come to enjoy the immense beauty found here in Yaremche.

Thear are many mineral springs, including chloride, carbonate, sulfate, hydrocarbonate mineral waters like Borjomi, Narzan, Essentuki, Arzni. Especially well-known hydro-carbonate and calcium sodium water, called "Burkut".There are several waterfalls .The highest waterfall on the river Prut is "Hook", which is located on the reserve near the village Mykulychyn.

The Ukrainian city of Yaremche is truly a sight to behold and is often called by the local inhabitants the "Pearl of the Carpathians". Yaremche's nickname is appropriate for a city with picturesque views from every direction and a backdrop of a wooded Ukrainian mountain range.Yaremche provides visitors with an array of activities throughout the year. You can be assured to find some type of sport or activity to keep you busy when you come here. In summer you can take advantage of the beautiful hikes and mountain climbing, which ranges from basic to advanced. If this sounds too adventurous then take a stroll through the sweet-smelling meadows where you can pick ripe berries and mushrooms for breakfast. In winter, sports like snow skiing and tobogganing are popular and are fun ways to brave the winters in Yaremche. There are ski lifts available for those attempting to ski down mountains standing between 700 and 1150 meters high.

The closest mountain is Makovytsia, or Lysa (which means «bald» in Ukrainian) as local inhabitants call it because of its bald peak from which one gets a pleasant view of this Carpathian town hiding among the hills.

A holiday in the city of Yaremche will be a real treat for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Today the city has over 15 resorts and recreation centers, 25 hotels and about 280 private estates and many more being built, operates 36 restaurants, including 14 traditional gutsulskih bulb, 18 cafes, two souvenir markets. As mentioned before there are plenty of activities to keep you busy and there are clubs, stores and cafes available to cater to your every need.
